Restoration and Archaeological Conservation

MENIA RESTORATION & HERITAGE

Archaeological restoration and conservation, due to its importance for scientific research, require technical expertise and basic knowledge (historical, artistic, scientific, and technical). It is essential to know the materials and factors of degradation and conservation to develop a good conservation proposal.

Therefore, at the Menia Workshop, we are aware that a rigorous methodology must be followed, going through the following work phases: Documentation, diagnosis and analytics, cleaning, consolidation, and reintegration.

And as a cultural heritage, we must also respect the basic principles of conservation: reversibility, stability, and legibility of the object.

The conservation process begins at the moment archaeological remains appear at the site, so we must have the interdisciplinary support of other specialists.

Services:

- Conservation and restoration of archaeological materials: ceramics, glass, metals, numismatics, stone materials, and organic materials.
