Industrial Archaeology

Movable and immovable heritage and systems of social relations

Industrial heritage encompasses all assets (movable and immovable heritage and systems of social relations) linked to the culture of work and arising from the economic activities of the Industrial Revolution (extraction, processing, transport, distribution and management). These assets are considered as an integrated whole that includes the landscape, labour relations, architecture, techniques, archives and associated symbols.

Its study and valorisation are carried out through Industrial Archaeology, an interdisciplinary discipline that analyses both tangible and intangible remains in order to understand the evolution of techno-industrial societies.
